Chen-Hsiang is an architect, innovator, and researcher focused on environmental architecture, sustainable design, and creative problem-solving. He continues to challenge, redefine, and explore the possibilities of design thinking for more-than-human worlds.
Previously, he served as a senior architectural designer at Miniwiz from 2013 to 2016, an internationally operating design company dedicated to sustainable architecture and circular economy consultancy. He helped establish the design workflow for environmental performance analysis within the company.
In 2016, he co-founded Bionicraft, an innovative startup dedicated to food waste upcycling through biotechnological design. As the chief designer, he led the company to finalist status in the World-Changing Ideas by Fast Company in 2017, the Design for Asia Merit Award in 2017, and 1st Prize at the Audi Innovation Award in 2021. He was named one of the Generation Tatler Leaders of Tomorrow in 2021.
Through the products, materials, and systems he designed and invented, Bionicraft has helped reduce more than 50 tons of food waste globally per year since 2016.
